6th International Conference on Literary Education

The 6th International Conference on Literary Education is a space for meeting, reflection, and sharing among researchers, teachers, and students interested in Children’s and Young Adult Literature and reader development. The event aims to foster scientific dialogue around different theoretical, critical, and pedagogical perspectives, highlighting literature as a key instrument for education, culture, and citizenship.

The 6th International Conference on Literary Education, organized by the Department of literacies, Didactics and Supervision and by the Research Centre on Child Studies of the Institute of Education of the University of Minho, will take place online on April 23 and 24, 2026.

This scientific event aims to bring together researchers, teachers, and students for a joint reflection on the challenges, potentialities, and practices in the field of Children’s and Young Adult Literature and literary education, promoting the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and research that highlight literature as an essential dimension of human, cultural, and civic development.

The sessions will be organized around the following thematic lines:

Literary history or historiography
Literary theory, criticism, and analysis
Comparative literature
Reading, promotion, and mediation of literature: 

• Reading practices and habits 
• Image reading and visual culture 
• Literary reader formation and literary competence 
• Educational applications of Children’s and Young Adult Literature

Addressed to both national and international academic communities, the conference welcomes papers by PhD holders (individually or in co-authorship), as well as joint papers by PhD holders and doctoral students.
Each PhD holder may submit up to two proposals, which will be accepted in order of submission.

In addition, it will be possible to promote recent books or publications related to the event by sending the cover and access link, which will be shared on the conference’s official webpage.

Registration is mandatory for all participants, including presenters and attendees, via the following form:
