In fact, schools are a privileged setting for health education and Portugal is a member of the Schools for Health in Europe Network Foundation (SHE - https://www.schoolsforhealth.org), a European network dedicated to health promotion in schools. In recent years there have been several actions and programs to disseminate good practices and implement health-promoting programs in Portuguese schools. SHE has recently launched some important documents on health education in European schools, namely the Handbook for Health Promoting Schools in Europe, the Materials for Teachers and the Standards & Indicators for Health Promoting Schools in Europe. It is therefore necessary to disseminate and implement the documents in the context of Portuguese schools, as well as to apply them in the context of promoting movement behaviors, so that Portugal remains at the forefront of what is best done in European health-promoting schools. In this context, it is considered essential to equip or update teachers with the knowledge and skills to promote appropriate movement behaviors in the school context and in accordance with the SHE guiding documents. Thus, this action is part of the MOVE24 project, funded by FCT (PTDC/SAU-DES/0166/2021), whose proposing entity is the Institute of Education / Research Center for Child Studies of the University of Minho, thus contributing to the objectives of the project and the mission of the University, the transfer of knowledge and skills.
